The European Commission has published a report on the introduction of final protective measures for imports of metal products to the European Union, which will come into force on February 2, 2019, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine reported on its website.

According to the document, the EU introduces protective measures in the form of individual and global tariff quotas for all countries. After the quotas for imports of steel products are used, a duty of 25% will be applied.

It also noted that the protective measures will be valid for three years, including the period of validity of preliminary measures, that is, the final measures will be valid from February 2, 2019 to June 30, 2021. Global quotas will be allocated on a quarterly basis, individual – on an annual basis.

At the same time, the quarterly balance of the global quota will move to the next quarter within one annual period. It is envisaged that countries that use their individual quotas will be able to continue deliveries without paying the duty within the framework of the global quota balance in the last quarter of the annual period.

The protective measures apply to 26 categories of metal products. At the same time, goods originating from Ukraine fall under tariff quotas for 14 product groups.
